Alcohol

There will be circumstances where alcohol may be consumed in conjunction with work. These are typically at functions where you are either entertaining,  being entertained by a employee or celebrating with the team. In such instances, moderation is the key. The serving of alcohol at a Company function to any employee or guest under the legal drinking is expressly prohibited.

Any employee who reports to work or is found working under the influence of intoxicants or unauthorised drugs could be counselled and/or dismissed. employees who voluntarily admit to a substance abuse problem and seek treatment prior to displaying erratic behavior will not be subject to disciplinary action. If an employee is found to have re-commenced with substance abuse, disciplinary action will be taken.

Except in the above circumstance, Company does not believe in the consumption of alcohol during working hours. Your Manager may ask you to leave the premises if they believe you are unable to perform your work duties or the impact of alcohol consumption is offensive to employees or colleagues.  Managers should use our guide to identify possible substance abuse problems in the workplace.

The consumption of alcohol can also be dangerous in certain environments. It is suggested that no alcohol be consumed on the premises of a employee unless in a safe environment. There are other circumstances where the law is quite specific about the use of alcohol, the most common being in relation to driving a motor vehicle. As a responsible employer, we would always encourage you to seek alternate travel arrangements if impaired by alcohol rather than having you drive.

Employees may attend treatment or counselling in their own time or work time in accordance with normal company procedures (sick leave or special arrangement with Manager).
